Summertime, Not Mosquito Time!

May 24, 2017

Do you want to spend your time outdoors, but the mosquitoes have you staying inside?

At Southern Lawns, our Mosquito Control Program is in high demand during the spring and summer months. We want you to enjoy the sun, without having to worry about pesky bug bites. Our program is odorless and completely safe for your family and animals. It consists of a barrier spray that is applied to shrubs, low hanging limbs and patio areas. We apply this spray approximately every 24 days, between April and October. Our program reduces the numbers of fleas, ticks and other pests as well!

Mosquitos tend to flock where there is still water. The AMCA says to get rid of “tin cans, old tires, buckets, unused plastic swimming pools or other containers that collect and hold water.”

Other facts about Mosquitoes:

  • Only the female mosquito bites and requires blood to produce eggs. The female can lay up to 300 eggs at a time, averaging 1,000 to 3,000 offspring in her life span. (That’s a lot of kids!)
  • Mosquitoes carry several diseases, as mentioned by the Center For Disease Control, these are: Viral Diseases that cause encephalitis (brain inflammation), Malaria, Yellow Fever, Dengue Fever, Rift Valley Fever
